"What am I missing? They make them overseas to avoid the tariffs from the other counties. The steel is not imported here and therefore won`t be affected by any new tariff Trump might place on the steel."
Trumps steel/aluminum tariffs jacking incoming prices on such from overseas, enables local (US)Steel makers to also "jack up" their prices.
Result is all users of steel/aluminum will pay more for their US made steel, etc.
Meantime, the Euros have put a 31% tariff on incoming Harleys which amounts to around $2200 tax on each bike exported from the US to the EU. Harley plans to (NOT) pass that increased cost on to the dealers and/or the customers.....thus eating that cost until they can gear up making the bikes for the EU overseas where the tariff would no longer apply.
