2 weeks agoMy son bought a condo at a sheriffs auction and in the garage was a 2004 Cadillac Deville,a 95 Sporty 1200 and a small utility trailer.
He applied for lost titles for all 3 and I traveled out to Iowa and trailered the bike behind the Caddy back here to AZ.
All had sat at least 3 years and all were missing the ignition keys as well.
I got the Caddy running but I HATE Sportsters and this is only the 2nd one I`ve ever been stuck working on.I`m in the process of getting either a key made or replacing the ignition switch,BUT,it seems like old Shovels and Pans that the oil seeped from the oil tank into the crankcase.
I can hot wire the bike to get it to turn over but how do I get all that old oil out of the crankcase so I can change the oil and filter to get it running once I get that darn Mikuni carb off and cleaned and get the key or new ignition switch?
It is a nice bike,(for a shortster),Mikuni carb,Thunder header and I have the dyno sheet and the little sucker made 62.5 hp at the rear wheel and the original owner,in his late 70`s turned a hair over 85mph in the 1/8 mile at the All Harley drags,I have his time slip as well.
But I`ve only worked on one of these `dirt bikes` before and I HATE them,I`m used to Big Twins.
